Why this Hike

This beautiful hike along the coast of Cape Le Grand National Park is a fantastic overnight adventure for intermediate walkers. With some of the best views you can experience from a hike in Western Australia, this hike is certainly worth the trek no matter how far you must travel to experience this little place of magic.

Track Notes & Overview

2 Days, 1 Night – 20KM

Day One – Rossiter Beach to Lucky Bay Campground (7.6KM)

Starting at the end of Rossiter Beach in the carpark at the end of Rossiter Road the walk heads west along the coastal trail past Mississippi Hill and onto the beach in Lucky Bay with it's beautiful white sand. Walk the entire stretch of the beach where on the other side you will reach Lucky Bay Campground which is an established campsite with good facilities.

Day Two – Lucky Bay Campground to Le Grand Beach (13.4KM)

On the second day of this walk you will continue to follow the coastal track (Lucky Bay – Thistle Cove Trail) through to Thistle Cove which has some of the best views on the whole walk. After reaching the cove you will continue along the mostly granite trail to Hellfire Bay and then along to the hardest section of the walk with sections of up and down before arriving at Le Grand Beach Campground, the end of the walk.

*Please note that this walk can be extended to make it easier for newer hikers but hikers with some experience should be able to complete this walk in two days. Alternatively very experienced hikers who have the physical fitness and skills should be able to complete the walk in one day which should take around 8-10 hours.
