Why this Hike
This walk west of Alice Springs is a great day out and gives you the opportunity to explore both Snake Rock and Ellery Creek. The hike which follows parts of Larapinta Trail is well marked with maroon arrows and is easy to follow with information signposts about local history and wildlife scattered along the way.
Track Notes & Overview
Starting from Ellery Creek Campground this hike starts by following section 7 of the Larapinta Track before taking a left down Dolomite Walk at the first intersection. Continue walking this track until reaching Snake Rock from which you can carry on walking until you are back at the Campground. For an added extension to this walk you can visit Ellery Creek Big Hole via Ellery Creek Walk (an extra 300 metres each way from the campground) which is a favourite picnic and swimming spot for locals.
*Please note that the trail is marked with Maroon Markers and these are the only ones that should be followed. The trail also has blue markers but these are for another walk other than this one (Larapinta Trail).
