Why this Hike
This hike in near Katherine is a fantastic day adventure for hikers looking for an easier hike within the Northern Territory. With sections that follow the Katherine River and a Lookout followed by a short climb, this hike has a little bit of everything and shows off the best of the local area including the gorge.
Track Notes & Overview
Starting on the track near Cicada Lodge this hike follows the Katherine River for a short period passing by Nitmiluk Visitor Centre and climbing up to Baruwei Lookout. From here you will continue to follow the track as it leaves the river and follows the cliff edge as you walk over the gorge below. Keep walking as you reach a lookout before descending down the steps to Gorge Road, follow the parallel track as it crosses the road back to the starting point of the hike near the lodge, from which you can head home.
*Please note this walk may be marked as 'Beginner' but is not good for first time hikers or very inexperienced hikers.
